Paul's Advice Regarding Marriage

The congregation of believers in Yeshua in Corinth consisted primarily of Gentile converts.

The purpose of Paul's epistles to such communities was to instruct them to conduct themselves in a manner that would be, more or less, acceptable to Jewish believers in Yeshua. The community in Corinth had much to learn, particularly in the realm of Jewish traditions.

The purpose of Paul's epistle to Corinth was to help the Gentile congregation serve as a good witness to both unbelieving Gentiles and Jews.

Within a community that was predominantly pagan, questions arose regarding matters such as outward appearance—specifically, head covering, the circumcision, the proper observance of the Lord's Supper, the eating of idol sacrifices, the manifestation of spiritual gifts, and so forth. Here in Chapter 7 Paul is teaching about marriage.
